Ok, first and foremost, my sincere apologies… I started this blog under the hopes to post on a regular basis… Well, my life has been the usual…crazy busy… Birthday parties in 2 cities, romantic getaways, photo shoots, NY fashion week, etc…  September has been enlightening as always… 

Now, on to the task at hand.  

Fall is here, and sure, we’ve got a little bit of warmth still clinging on to the changing leaves out there, but the summer heat is over.  I don’t want to see a fellow diva get hit in the face with a cool brisk wind and be unprepared.  It’s time.  Update your wardrobe with my top five.

#5: The Sweater Dress: An essential!! Purchase in various colors, prints, whatever suits you…a good sweater dress is a great addition to any wardrobe.  Invest in a quality knit, and it’ll last for years.  Wear it alone, throw a belt over it, add a jacket, wear leggings underneath… So many looks can be created, and the best part is, it’s easy to take a sweater dress from the office to after 5.  During the day, tone the sex appeal down with a pair of leggings and knee high boots.  In the evening, opt for bare legs and a great pair of high heeled platform booties.  The one shown below can be found at www.ardenb.com.

#4: The Leather Jacket: Every girl needs a versatile leather jacket in her closet.  Versatility is key when updating your wardrobe. #3: The Leather Skirt: Not just for tough chicks, the leather skirt is a fab trend that’s been seen on all of the runways.  I’ve been seeing several styles of leather skirts, everything from full to pleated, but my personal fave is the pencil.  It can be dressed up or down. Try pairing a leather knee length pencil skirt with a chiffon blouse to soften the look.  Go for a tee and stiletto patent pumps for classic sex appeal. Keep the rest of your ensemble simple, let your skirt be the focal point…it’ll grab attention…and the eyes of every man in the room. The one shown below can be found at www.asos.com.

#2: The Statement Necklace: I live in Chicago, so in the colder months, I cover up.  Our winters are brutal!! Think about your neckline.  Sure, it’ll be covered by a scarf when you are in the outdoor elements, but when you step into your office or that cocktail party, don’t you want to make an entrance??  Make sure to adorn your collarbone with an eye catching piece.  Finally, your neck is getting a turn to be in the spotlight while those gorgeous legs are covered up.  I love the chunky  chain necklaces that are surfacing.  The metal gives an edgy look, while the length keeps it classy.   The one below is from Kenneth Jay Lane and can be purchased at www.intermixonline.com.  

#1: The Bootie: It’s simple.  Shoes will bring you joy, while booties take you to the highest level of ecstasy.  A unique bootie is a great way to show the world who you are!  This season, there are so many to choose from…express yourself.  Try a platform version with a tall slim heel to elongate the leg if you are planning to pair them with a skirt.  This same style can easily go along with a tailored cigarette pant.  And ladies, if you have to choose where to spend, this is where you invest.  A quality shoe is key!!
